Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why do Medical Doctors need their own organization?

Many will say that the AMA represents all "Doctors" but the reality is that the AMA in recent years has gradual been swayed by public opinion and now instead considers itself as a representative body for healthcare in general. They often put public concerns over the concerns of the doctors that they claim to represent. The public good is of course important but Medical Doctors need someone to represent them without bias.

2. Who is NAMDA?

NAMDA is a group of M.D.'s who decided they were fed up with the current system and they decided to put the internet to work. The group of physicians current take care of all the expenses associated with NAMDA and all they ask is that you help by joining (if you're a M.D.) and also by telling your fellow M.D.'s to join. Eventually as NAMDA grows we may form a not-for-profit corporation and charge very small member dues (that will be agreed upon by the members at that time) but the first step is to get numbers.

3. Why Now?

Let's be honest, it used to mean something to be a M.D. and when people spoke of being a doctor they usually meant a medical doctor. Now most people don't know the difference between an optometrist and a medical doctor. M.D.'s have toiled through years of schooling harder than any other degree and we deserve the recognition of that feat. The AMA won't say that M.D.'s are superior because they want to be politically correct in case they decide to add other "doctors" into their organization. The AMA has abandoned us and we need our own organization that is run by us and not an organization that is more concerned with selling  insurance.

4. Does it cost to join?

No. There will not be a membership dues until we the members decide to make such a move. Our goal is to expand and gain strength. Hopefully, we will become the main source of political power for M.D.'s in both the U.S. and Canada.

5. Why should I join?

Because you care about who and what you are and what the future of your profession is. If the M.D. degree becomes degraded as the AMA has encouraged then why would anyone go to the efforts of becoming a medical doctor when an easier degree exists. Especially in this time when salaries are dropping and people think doctors are the stuff of medical soap operas, we must remind them of our stature in the medical world. NAMDA asks nothing from you except for support and pride in your degree.
